Joanne McEwan

 

 

Joanne is a Public Health Development Manager for Health Education England and manages the Public Health Practitioner programme for the Oxford School of Public Health.

Joanne comes from a public health nursing and research background. She worked as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) in East Oxford, and a paediatric research nurse with the Oxford Vaccine Group (University of Oxford), where she continues to work part time. Having worked for a breast cancer charity in Egypt  where there is a high incidence of late stage diagnosis, she co-initiated a qualitative research study on the social determinants of breast cancer delay in diagnosis and treatment.

Joanne is a Mary Seacole Scholar following an HEE funded national leadership award as creator of the app Let’s talk FGM.
